After all these differences we live as one and this is what makes us an Indian. Festivals and events are an inexhaustible part of us.

India hosts many annual food festivals, garments fair, international trade fairs and flower festivals every year. Flower festivals indicate the natural beauty of India and attract foreigners from all across the globe. The reason behind these festivals is to make people aware of the importance of nature and plants. Here are some of the Flower Festivals in India which is the center of attraction on the international level:

The Rose Festival (Chandigarh)

The Rose Festival of Chandigarh is famous all across the world. This floral festival is organized every year in the February month and is known as ‘Garden’s Festival’. In the year 2019, the festival was hosted in the very last week of the month. It was a 3-day ceremony held from 22nd to 24th Feb 2019. These are some basic details but we are here to talk about its importance.

It is the biggest rose show in India where a magnificent number of roses are displayed in Dr. Zakir Rose Garden. The roses of the different breeds in different colours are put on the show. The whole garden contains about 50000 plants of roses with 800+ varieties. The Rose Festival 2020 will be held in between 21st to 23rd February 2010. The whole garden looks like a rainbow of roses. The festival is worth to visit once in your life.

The Tulip Festival (Srinagar)

Another festival to visit, if you love natural beauty, is the annual Tulip Festival of Srinagar. The obvious fact is that it was named after the flower ‘Tulip’ because the whole garden contains only tulips. The garden displays a wide variety of Tulips which you haven’t even heard of. Kashmir is known as ‘The Crown of India’ and is popular for its natural beauty. This very festival is an effort from the Ministry of Tourism of J&K to encourage tourism there.

The interesting and fascinating reason to visit the festival is that this particular kind of flowers blossoms only for 15 days throughout the year. The dates for the festival are decided accordingly for the same reason. Kashmir is the dream place for everyone, no matter the country, this festival becomes a great excuse for the tourists to book their tickets.

International Flower Festival (Gangtok)

Fairs and Festivals are a part of our culture and tradition. Well, it would be more appropriate to say that our beloved country is loved more for its culture than its people. Gangtok is the capital of Sikkim which is itself a different country but considered as a part of India. This festival is held in the month of May every year. The International Flower Festival of Sikkim is preceded by the Orchid Show organized in  March and followed by a Food Festival.

A vast variety of flowers such as Rhododendron, Orchids, Gladioli and several kinds of trees and ferns. Around 1000 breeds in flowers and plants are displayed in this flower show. Not to mention the cultural and adventurous activities held in the time period.

Lalbagh Flower Show (Bangalore)

This flower show is held twice a year, once in January on Republic Day and secondly in August on Independence Day in the city of flowers ‘Bangalore’. This show is the tribute to our one and only ‘Mahatma Gandhi’ (Baapu). The fascinating colourful flower display keeps the visitors bounded to the ceremony.

Lalbagh Botanical Garden is the place where the show is held. It is organized in the joint assistance of the Department of Horticulture and Mysore Horticulture Society. The glory of the floral event cannot be explained in mere words.

Buds N Blooms (Pune)

This International Flower Show is organized in Empress Botanical Garden of Pune (Maharashtra). Visitors from all across the globe come every year to witness the beauty of flowers. The show is also known as ‘The Rose Flower Show’ due to the abundance of Roses (in many breeds) in the garden. Apart from roses, the garden contains Gerbera, Salvia, Marigold, Zinnia, Coleus, Gazania, and Petunia.

Also, many Floral Arrangement stalls and indoor plants are put on the show by nurseries, vendors from other states.
